Butternut squash. Brussels sprouts. Mulberries. Much is written about the bounty of summer—who doesn’t love fresh-from-the-farm corn and heirloom tomatoes?—but there’s just something special about the produce of fall. The chefs behind True Food Kitchen, located at Roosevelt Field Mall, certainly think so; their just-released fall menu is practically an ode to fall and all of its favorite flavors.
Co-founded by integrative medicine expert, Dr. Andrew Weil, True Food Kitchen opened in Garden City last year as Long Island’s first location of the health-minded restaurant. Guided by the principles of Dr. Weil’s anti-inflammatory food pyramid—focusing on nutrient-dense ingredients and a flavor-forward menu designed to optimize long-term health—True Food Kitchen offers nutrient-dense dishes that highlight seasonal produce without sacrificing flavor.
True Food Kitchen’s latest menu—its just-released fall menu, which is now available both online and in-store—certainly lives up to the restaurant’s guiding principles. Don’t sleep on their Truffle Honey & Pear Flatbread, a limited time, crispy artisan flatbread topped with roasted butternut squash and cashew puree, sliced organic pear, whipped goat cheese and walnut, and then finished with organic arugula and lightly dressed with a slightly sweet and savory truffle honey.
Other fall menu highlights include Roasted Brussels Sprouts, dressed in a miso sesame vinaigrette with mushrooms and chili threads; True Food Kitchen’s Seasonal Salad, an appropriately autumnal mix of butternut squash, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, organic kale, toasted mulberries and pomegranate, tossed in horseradish vinaigrette; Whole Squash Pie, encased in a graham cracker crust and topped with coconut whipped cream; and so much more.
