The best way to beat the winter blues is to plan something fun. The anticipation of spending a special night out always makes the week fly by. I know the weather this time of year makes most people want to stay in and stay warm. But, as the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.” So, bundle up, grab your sweetie and make your way to downtown Sayville. Treat your special someone to a “craft themed” night full of sweets, drinks and a unique DIY experience. The shops of Sayville have so much to offer, from decadent hand-crafted chocolate to DIY woodcraft workshops. Your Sayville date night will be one to remember!
The Sayville Chocolatier
To begin your crafty little date night, head to the best chocolate shop in town. The Sayville Chocolatier won’t be hard to find, just follow the unmistakable scent of warm chocolate wafting down the street. With so many delightful handcrafted sweets to choose from, you’ll find it nearly impossible to decide which to buy! I recommend trying the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, Chocolate Caramel Turtle Fudge or the Two Layer Truffle.

Down the Rabbit Hole Wine Boutique
Make a quick right as you leave the chocolate shop and enter Down the Rabbit Hole Wine Boutique. This charming little shop is full of hand-picked artisanal wines. The walls are lined with small lot vintages and wines from organic and bio dynamic vineyards around the world. This shop is one of my absolute favorite places to visit in Sayville. The knowledgeable staff are always so friendly and helpful! They will help you choose the perfect wine to bring along to the next stop on your crafty date night!

Hammer & Stain DIY Workshop
Now it’s time to head across the street and embrace your inner Martha Stewart. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be super crafty to enjoy a workshop at and Hammer & Stain. This DIY studio guides you through the process of transforming a plain old piece of wood into a personalized work of art. The instructor guided classes are a fun and creative way to spend the evening with your date. Crafts include creating a cornhole set, decorative ladder and even personalized pet décor. Good thing you picked up that nice bottle of wine at Rabbit Hole because bringing your beverage of choice is always encouraged!

The Portly Villager
What better way to end the evening with an ice-cold craft beer in a frosted mug? The Portly Villager is a cozy little pub tucked away at the other end of Main Street. The mellow, laid back atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a casual dinner with your significant other. Enjoy your meal by the fireplace and settle in for a cozy chat. Try their signature sandwich The Portly Villager. Roast beef, melted Havarti cheese and horseradish sauce heated on Marble Rye – delicious!
