The calendar may say spring is rapidly approaching, but we know better. It’ll be May on Long Island before we’re really able to dine al fresco. In the meantime, we’re going to enjoy all the comfort food we can. From international bakeries to French and Asian fusion to a new happy hour menu at an old favorite, here are 8 places to add to your March must-eat list.

1221 at MFP

Fall in love with French and Asian fusion at 1221 at MFP. Choose from dishes such as Chicken Ballotine with truffle fontina and braised salsify root, filet mignon Wellington, an Alsatian tarte flambee, grilled tiger shrimp baked in béarnaise and more.  Make sure you save room for dessert. The chocolate lava cake is a must-have.

Indian Wells Tavern

Yes, we know Indian Wells Tavern isn’t new, but their happy hour menu (served Monday through Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.) just got a makeover and it will have you making excuses to head to Amagansett. Their house-baked pretzel with cheese sauce is the cure to any workweek blues.

Patchogue Beer Project

Calling all beer craft lovers. Stop in to Patchogue Beer Project to try one of the 12 craft brews and ciders on tap. The beer pairs well with food from Local Burger.

Hummus Mediterranean Grill

Double the hummus. Holbrook’s Hummus Mediterranean Grill has opened a second location in Selden, which means it’s even easier to grab a pita sandwich for lunch.

Marie Blachère

Calling all sweet tooths. French bakery Marie Blachère’s just opened its first bakery in Great Neck. You want the chocolate brioche. Trust us.

Konoba Huntington

Take a trip to Croatia—by way of Huntington. Konoba means tavern in Croatian and you’ll find all sorts of specialities including ĆEVAPČIČI (Croatian Minced Beef, Lamb, Pork, Fries, Red Onion, Ajvar Mixed Vegetable Spread), FUŽI (a pasta dish with Istrian White Truffle, Shrimp, Parmesan Cream) and more.

Gaetano’s Flour and Fire

Make it a pizza night. New Garden City pizzeria, Gaetano’s Flour and Fire, bakes Asiago cheese into their crust. We can’t get enough of it.
