MONTAUK: Childhood Summer Fudge Memory

Fudge ‘ Stuff on the Plaza will bring everyone back to family vacations.

There are lots of places to vacation in the summertime, but why travel far when everything’s in our own backyard?

When I was young, my family always vacationed on Long Island, mainly in Montauk, and now I find myself doing the same thing.

The best part is I can revisit places with my own children. The one place that has stayed virtually untouched is Fudge n’ Stuff  on the Plaza in Montauk. The inside and the out of this nostalgic place looks exactly the same down to the white boxes with the red lettering that house their delicious homemade fudge. The smell of the place is heavenly, and they really do make the best fudge.

Fudge n’Stuff has been around for over 30 years. They make over 30 flavors of fudge on the premises daily in their stainless steel fudge kettle. They have unique flavors including banana split, cotton candy and almond joy made with coconut and almonds. My favorites are chocolate, cookies and cream and peanut butter and chocolate. The fudge is so creamy and delicious; it immediately brings me back to my childhood.

Along with all the fudge, they also serve 16 flavors of ice cream with hot fudge and hot caramel, old fashioned candies in glass jars, fresh popped popcorn, fresh spun cotton candy and homemade chocolates, which includes chocolate covered pretzels, peanut butter cups, barks and more. It truly is a children’s paradise (and pretty fun for adults too!)

Just a quick walk from the beach or Main Street, Fudge n’Stuff is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
