We nominated, and our readers voted for, Huntington’s Cinema Arts Centre as one of our annual Local Heroes in the nonprofit/advocate category. Founded by the Skolnick family in 1973, the Cinema Arts Centre is a Long Island institution and a hub for those seeking thought-provoking films, including their series, “Let’s Eat!
Food on Film.” On Sunday March 29 at 6:30pm the Cinema Arts Centre, in conjunction with Slow Food North Shore, is presenting its second annual Long Island Food and Film Feast. A culinary feast for the senses, the event features nine short documentaries, guest speakers and a tasting of the specific food highlighted in the film; take a “tour” of Brooklyn Brewery while sipping their beer, learn about Community Supported Fisheries while sampling seafood chowder, question industrial agriculture while enjoying vegetarian shepherd’s pie made by Caroline Fanning of Restoration Farm or indulge in homemade carrot cake while being inspired by LI-CAN’s Grow to Give Gardens. Tickets are $60 ($50 for CAC members) and are available online. Come hungry and leave satiated and inspired!
