West to east, there is the Fall Family Festival at Planting Fields Arboretum (Saturday and Sunday 11-5pm) featuring seasonal fun, live music, beer tastings and comestible goodies. This is the last weekend for the Long Island Fair, one of our country’s oldest agricultural fairs, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. There are not one, but two apple festivals on Saturday; one in Amityville and the other in Sayville. The 300-year old Sagtikos Manor in West Bay Shore is hosting a Fall Festival on Sunday with an emphasis on history including Revolutionary War period crafts, games, regimental maneuvers and eats. Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank is hosting its 29th annual Pumpkinfest 2014 on both Saturday and Sunday. Pumpkins, and more pumpkins, farm animals and even a seed spitting contest! And lastly, Peconic Bay Winery is hosting Pour the Core, a hard cider festival on Saturday featuring over 75 hard ciders from Long Island and around the world.
