There is a full farm day on the docket at Restoration Farm on the grounds of Old Bethpage Village Restoration this Sunday, August 3, starting with yoga in the fields at 10 a.m., the farm stand is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and lastly  live outdoor music by the Long Island Bluegrass Quartet at the Tin House (open mic begins at 2 p.m. and concert at 3 p.m.).

The farm, started in 2007 by Daniel Holmes and Caroline Fanning, is on seven picturesque acres of fields dotted among the structures of a recreated 19th century Long Island village. It provides fresh organic fruits and vegetables through its CSA and the farm stand. Recently, the farm expanded its educational and cultural offerings (that includes kids’ birthday parties!) .

Restoration Farm Arts uses the backdrop of a public working farm to promote appreciation of open space, organic agriculture, and civic engagement,”says Susan Salem, coordinator of the Tin House events. “Through arts, education and cultural events, it nourishes the Long Island community with opportunities to learn and grow together.”

Music days at the farm are wonderful casual family affairs where the kids can ramble, you can bring a picnic lunch or snack, and dancing is usually on the menu. Picnic tables and chairs are provided. This is your second-to-last chance for this season’s musical offerings. “Our last concert of the season will be Sept. 7, featuring blues slide guitar master, Kerry Kearney,” says Salem.

And, attention shoppers: you can expect to find lettuce, garlic, summer squash, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, kale, Swiss chard, cucumbers, carrots and beans at this Sunday’s farm stand. Bring your own reusable bags or boxes.

This Sunday’s yoga (Prana Flow Vinyasa) will be led by Elyce Neuhauser. The class is $10. Tickets for the concert are $15 (children under 12 are free; open mic participants get half-price). To purchase ahead of time go to Brown Paper Tickets. or e-mail to reserve.

The farm stand and Tin House are at 140 Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage, NY 11804.
