How Well Do You Know Your Beer? Prove It and Raise Money for Your Favorite Charity

Those wine people, with their blind tastings and dreams of terroir. What do they know about drinking? And do they really know what they’re drinking? You do, though, you beer aficionado, fan, enthusiast. You also know beer tastes best when it’s fresh, which is why you’re starting to choose local beer over imports and why you’re also opting for draft over bottle (cans still get a pass because they block damaging UV rays).

So how well do you know your stuff? Stop thinking about it and prove it at Maxwell’s next Saturday, when teams will challenge each other to a taste-off, or Match the Batch. Maxwell’s will pour draft beer blind. The bar tap handles will be replaced with unidentified, plain-colored handles, teams will be given names and must match the correct brewery name to each batch. Cost is $99 and includes beer, food, T-shirts and prizes for members. The team to correctly name the most beers will be declared the winners; prize is a free keg party hosted by Maxwell’s. A percentage raised by entry fees will be donated to a charity of the winners’ choice. Featured beers include:
