On Long Island, Wickham’s Fruit Farm is the only farm that I know of that lets you pick fresh cherries on site. The season is very short and gone before you know it, which is why I always miss it. But this year, I am determined to go cherry picking and already have it marked onto my calendar for July.

Fresh cherries are a real treat and my children adore them. Whether we’re using them to make homemade Bing Cherry Ice Cream or Cherry Peach Freezer Jam, we eat them as often as we can. Unfortunately, the season is short and fast so we always try to make the best of it.

No matter how you like to enjoy your cherries—sweet, savory or raw—there are enough recipes on this list to keep your belly happy all season long.
